Water,sanitation and health

The pastoral community and the rural population of entire Garissa District use untreated water for their domestic needs. This untreated water consumption contributed to 70% of illness treated at health facilities and this affects the productive household labour.

Lack of sanitary facilities for disposal of human faeces and urine is a major source of water contamination.

The program entails the following:

  • Primary Health Care
  • Development of community water facilities and maintenance
  • Out reach health care for pastoralists
  • Provision of sanitation facilities
